How to Measure Your Gate

📐 Measure the Opening Width

Measure the exact opening where the gate will be installed from inside post to inside post.

If mounting to walls or other surfaces, measure from one mounting surface to the other.

Please provide the FULL opening width — we will make all hardware deductions on our end to ensure proper fit and clearance.

Measure from the ground or deck surface to your desired top height of the gate.

Most customers choose heights between:
• 30”
• 36”
• 40”

Please note: A small bottom gap is typically left to allow proper gate swing and clearance.

Make sure you have a solid mounting surface such as:
• Wood posts
• Vinyl posts with internal wood support
• Walls or columns

Wider openings may work better as double gates.

As a general rule:
• Single gates work best for smaller openings
• Double gates are recommended for wider openings to help reduce sag over time
